This is my first attempt at encaustic mixed media. It’s a small watercolour board (5″ x 7″/13cm x 18cm).
I used shellac, encaustic wax, alcohol inks and photo collages.

Good varying transparencies and textures! Suzanne at Caerus
Well, it was a first experiment but I’m quite excited at the possibilities with encaustic. I am working my way through all your 2012 studio artists. Your artist residency idea was a success. Will you be doing one in 2013?
We certainly will! Look for our website to post a 2013 application soon. Hope to have you join us. Suzanne
Wow! That’s an interesting concept! Will do! Ann
Thanks for putting Caerus Artist Residency on your blogroll. We appreciate it.
Yay! I like that.
Thank you. Not sure if I do. But learned something from it. I like your collages. Ann
Thanks for taking the time to look.
It’s always a pleasure to meet others on the artistic journey. Always something inspire. Ann
I recently have started encaustics and love how they are so freeing compared to the detailed paintings I make. This is a lovely first encaustic.
Thank you! I’ll check out your work. I’m interested in encaustics for various reasons. Transparency is one. So is occlusion. Encaustics can do both.
I haven’t posted my encaustics except for a few in the January 30 day challenge part of my blog but I love doing them.
Well, if you post them, do let me know.
Ann
Sure will or I can send you an email of them.
Thank you. Ann
